Once again, only W/Mos can farm that area. 80% of the rest of GW characters=screwed.
I have no problem with W/Mos being able to farm griffons if, say, I could still farm giants (I'm a R/E or R/Mo) and get decent drops. Sand Giants are a challenege to kill but I can do it efficiently enough. The first time I did so, I got like 5 purple max damage hammers. That may be a little much, but if I ever try now I usually get only 1 drop from 4 giants, and it's usually 90 gold or so.

I'd just like to note, I hate the run to Droknars through Lornars and Snake Dance with a passion. I do not hate it because the area is hard or anything like that. I hate it because it gives people a chance to simply skip ahead in the game. Especially the point that the whole area can be exploited for cash from other people in the game. Yeah, it's not necessarily an exploit because people are paying for a service rendered...but that service rendered is done by a single character. It's the same concept as farming, and yet it's not been nerfed in the same way that farming has. And, in addition...I hate the people that brag that they got to Droknar's when they were level 15. I don't care, nor does anyone else.
And as far as farming now goes: I tried Charr areas, the Lightning Drakes (Gates), and Griffons outside of Augury.
Now, I go kinda slow...no running ahead skills, just nuking everything in my path. I was able to pull 500 gold in the charr run, 1,000 on the drakes, and 1000 gold + good items on the Griffons. My runs are pretty slow, 15-20 minutes. However, in two days I went from roughly 2k to 17k. I only did a few runs and sold a few of the better spoils. And I also find it helps if you keep switching areas. Yeah, the Charr run doesn't get you much...but it's really easy. Even Gates is terribly easy. If my solo build wasn't so enchantment reliant, I'd even crash the party at Riverside. I'm just trying to make the point that you can still get your Superior Vigor. Just create a solid solo build, go into areas where you kill things managable for your build, and cycle the areas. I think that's the best way to help. And maximize your efforts whenever you can, salvage whatever you can to make the best of every run.
Myself...I have the goal to save up to 100k...no real purpose for it...just that I've never had that much before.
PieXags, in my previous post if anything I said sounded insulting, I really didn't mean it that way, and I hope you didn't take any of it that way. I was just wanting to offer some constructive critisim, and I respect your post.
And if you get really bored...don't drive south. Missouri sucks.

I don't have a character who can solo the griffins so I have been going off of others posts about their nerf. If this info is incorrect please correct me but I would like more than 1 source if possible.

Which Griffons are you talking?
Desert and Frost Griffons I can solo with a Smiting Ele/Monk I use to farm.
They are actually some of the easiest things to farm, in my opinion.
Edit: By the way, I consistently get 1 drop from every creature. Everything was dropping for me today.

The biggest flaw in Guild Wars as I see it is the "The game is skill based, not equipment" banner it tries to carry around. It's arguably harder for a lone necromancer to kill anything by himself (depending on secondary class) and get decent loot, but any W/Mo can go kill high level monsters easily and get lots of stuff. If it takes more skill for a necro to kill things by himself, why does he get crappy drops?

The things I was soloing yesterday are still giving the same loot today. I averaged the same ammount from my usual run. I also took in two purples and one gold. Typical of my run...now if you mean farming as in the same area over and over...I rarely do that anymore...typically I'll just shift from one area to another.

I totally agree.. I stil make 2-3k for high level money runs if im short... I think u have 1 gazillion platinums in your account, thats' why u dont get any drops...

Yeah, I'm not against farming either. Even though it can get kind of boring/repetitive, it gives you something to do when you have a few moments to spare -- why not make a couple extra gold in-game? Plus, I really do get a kick out of watching a group of monsters fall to their deaths at the same time.. makes my character feel strong, even if others are able to do the same thing.
The only problem is that, because of botters and those selling the gold in real life and profitting, is what has led ArenaNet to deal with this. I honestly think that if the bots and gold-selling online never occured, then majority of these nerfs to farming wouldn't have happened.
Because in this game (with the exception of the botters), farming really doesn't hurt that many people, if any at all. In other games, such as in FFXI, I can understand why farming may be frowned upon -- first, that game also has a problem with currency being sold online that ruins the economy, and second, because players all mingle in the same map, people who farm generally train/link a whole group of monsters and kill them at once, leaving the low-level characters with nothing to kill and level off of.... but since GW has its own personal maps, you killing a bunch of monsters doesn't affect other players.

I haven't gotten all of my characters done yet - but you have just hit on exactly the point 've been trying to make. When the quests are done, the world is explored, and there's no more armor to (realistically) be had - what is the point?

If that is the issue, then there has to be a better way to solve the problem than to stagnate the economy. By reducing drops, gold drops, and sales prices, the only thing that is happening is increasing reliance on "illegal" trading. All that will happen is that it will become more expensive to mine/farm for the pros, which mean they will charge more - but the demand will still be there....

That is a big problem, unfortunantly.
As it stands, it is MUCH easier to go out and earn $10 in real life, then go buy 100k off ebay for your GW character.
I would never pay real money for game money, but there are people who do. This really effs up the economy, and Anet has tried to respond by reducing the number of items, gold, etc in the game for EVERYONE-Even us honest players who just want some cool armor or a nice weapon.

Just a quick question:
What level are you guys when you go to places like Kryta and Nolani? I mean i would never expect to get stuff as a lvl 20 in Nolani killing lvl 7 mobs....same with Kryta and the lvl 10-13 mobs?
I cant say much for the higher level places though, but surely there must be some "player-level vs. mob-level" dependency? Some people say they get good drops, other say they don't, maybe the one is lvl 19 and the other one is lvl 20 [lets assume skill point levels also start to count somewhere]...just wondering.

Damnit so you're telling me the one place you can still effectively farm is a certain area of griffons? Those things I can't even KILL effectively with any of my characters because ALL of them are lacking a partial monk half?
Well the good knews is I did go and explore and I found one...particularly profitable little chest run way off in the middle of nowhere, only problem is it takes a few minutes just to run to the spot. Of course soon enough this will be nerfed because everyone will think I'm a "bot" and that I'm "exploiting"...pfft.
And...I don't know how the hell you managed to get so much money ANYWHERE in Kryta, I took my R/E through the gates, giants basin, the swamps, everywhere, killed enemies in groups of 15/20...and got maybe one or two drops in each group, all of them crap. Does God just not like PieXags?
That can't be it, otherwise my petition that I started in the sanitarium wouldn't have nearly as many people signing it, that thread in itself should show people what many people want.
In the meantime...anyone know any free games that are out there ifin' I ever get bored of this?

I don't know about that. I kill level 20-24 monsters if I go solo, get crappy drops or none at all.

Oh, you mean those new zones we'll all run through twice and then treat as every other zone in the game, right before they nerf every drop in them too? (Yeah I know I'm just being a smartass now, but I couldn't resist.)
*Edit* Oh, and to respond to something Photeus said about not wanting to offend me. Don't worry about that mate, I haven't been offended so long as I've been a member of these boards. I might act like I'm peeved or even like an asshole at times, but it's all in good fun. While I'm posting this I'm running through every area I can in GuildWars searching for new unfound loot spots, this doesn't mean THAT big of a deal to me.

Try Anarchy Online, it's farming heaven [and free]. Heck the terms "kiter" and "blitzer" is literally being used to describe certain classes :P Boring as hell for me anyway, but i'm sure those that like farming will enjoy that.

Heyas Pie and crew;
This is a mirror image of the same situation I encountered in EQ2.
The developers are trying to prevent unscrupulous people from making a huge amount of coin or loot and then running over to the nearest 3rd party site to exchange for real world money.
It's common, it's consistent, and most of these buttheads were here.
The problem is, in ratcheting down the economy, they completely render the rest of us impoverished in the process.
Like Pie, I was lucky enough to get in while the drops, etc. were unmodified and make a substantial amount of coin - which I then spent on my 15k armor and dyes.
I haven't had more than 10k in the bank since.
My solution would be:
If the economy has been radically modified in order to prevent the professional farmers from earning a living, reduce the costs associated with higher end items (armor for instance) so that normal players can attain these items with a normal amount of effort.
It shouldn't be something you have to go to a 3rd party site to acquire the funds to get!
Regards,
Talesin

The best example of a game with a mostly balanced economy, that although is still a terrible game, is Runescape. Runescape's economy is run by the elite with all the rare items, like GW. However, it's still possible for anyone who dedicates enough time to get enough money for the best armor, the best weapons, etc. Drops in RS have never changed, they've always been the same and the economy functions fine.
